The Swiss Society for Cardiac and Thoracic Vascular Surgery (SGHC) is a scientific association within the meaning of Articles 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code. The Society was founded in 1986 and is composed primarily of physicians who specialize in cardiac surgery and practice in Switzerland.

The Society is committed to the ethical principles of medical practice. It oversees the quality of medical practice and safeguards the professional and economic interests of the medical profession in general and of cardiac surgeons in particular. In doing so, it is guided by the Code of Professional Conduct of the FMH.
